A very elegant garment that finds its origins in the military world, and which is still used in full dress uniform. In Venice, it used to be worn by members of the nobility, both men and women, when going for a “liston” – a stroll through Saint Mark’s Square – or when attending theatre performances, hence its name “nobilomo” – nobleman. Created from a full circle of fabric with raw-cut edges and a piece at the front, it features a velvet collar that closes at the front with a couple of burnished metal or silver fastenings featuring the head of a lion.
